Who We Are

The Heart Foundation is New Zealand's heart charity, leading the fight against heart disease. Our goal is to help everyone in New Zealand keep their hearts healthy and live full lives.

Keeping your heart healthy is all about choices, some big ones and lots of little ones. The Heart Foundation is here to offer Kiwis lots of different ways to help their hearts stay healthy. Together, we can join the fight against heart disease.

By taking part in Jumping June, you could be:

Providing educational programmes in schools to teach children about heart health. We support children with educational programmes to improve their knowledge of food, exercise and wellness. This helps them to make more informed decisions about the food they eat and encourages healthy lifestyles, reducing their risk of heart disease. These programmes are designed especially for early childhood and primary school aged tamariki, and involve learning all about how their bodies work, and why eating healthy and keeping active are essential for a healthy heart. It’s important to us to give tamarki a guided pathway from a young age and help create a foundation for them to build a healthy lifestyle in the future.

Programmes your Jumping June support could help fund:

Fresh Made: a tool for early childhood providers that includes sample menus, tips on how to make changes to their current meal plans, and recipe ideas. Tohu Manawa Ora |Healthy Heart Award: is a Te Whāriki aligned programme to help early childhood providers promote healthy eating and physical activity in their services.

Food For Thought: Partnering with Foodstuff’s, Food For Thought takes learning both inside and outside the classroom with in-class sessions as well as a visit to the local PAK'nSAVE, New World or Four Square (for Year 5-6 children) to learn about the nutritional information of food and good label-reading practices.
